Not a Charitable Hospital But a Business Institution
I am a citizen of north India and have been living in Chandigarh for 20 years now, during our childhood PGI Hospital and institute Chandigarh was very famous for treatments and level of doctors which still is but 3-4 years ago this SOHANA Hospital came into limelight that its a charitable institution ran by NGO or some baba and many people started directing to this hospital and everything was fine untill it was purchased by some business man who saw this an opportunity to print money.
During covid my friend’s wife was admitted to this hospital we took here there as she was feeling some discomfort and low oxygen levels. Upon admission they said that she is Covid positive and thus has to be taken on special ward and asked for 3 lakh advance. She had her medical insurance cover for 7-1o lakhs and that they confirmed with us. Then they sent us home that she will be in special care unit.
After few days my friend received call from them that 7 lakh limit of insurance has been burst and they have to submit another 3 lakh, he was in office with me so he said that he willl submit when he visit in the evening to which the reply from hospital staff was – “Abhi jama karwao nahi to ilaj band ho jega“ – Submit money now or we will stop treatment.
Everyone in our office which is a MNC based in Chandigarh were so shocked that how can a hospital staff talk like that but since we had an urgent matter in hand which was her health we all contributed and somehow managed to deposit that money.
When we visited in evening I asked the staff about the rude behavior and they were like ek to hospital me bed mila hai upar se respect bhi chaiye.
I was surprise to hear that. Then later that day a guy from office said his sister is in PGi and she said that covid treatment is not so costly so next day we asked for bills for whatever has been billed until now. we saw rhey have been charging 4 time money that even other private hospitals of this level charge.
They humiliated my friend and his family for 2 month and after that she lost her life and they didnt even explained what happened when everything was right.
My friend he is mentally disturbed after that loosing his wife and life time savings. I dont blame doctors may be they did the job but the management and staff they are rude and trust me nothing in SOHANA hospital is charitable they loot you with pride.
