Walmart Hair Salon Smart Style Complaint
On Thursday, October 20, 2022, I entered the Walmart hair salon Smart Style at my neighborhood shopping complex. I was having a difficult day emotionally and was unsure, so I thought altering my hairstyle would be a wonderful pick-me-up.
At 7:25 p.m., I arrived at the salon. (On Thursday and Friday evenings, the salon closes at 9:00 p.m.) There was only one stylist in the salon, and she was busy trimming the hair of another client. She didn’t even look up as I approached her. She finished the haircut for the other client and took their payment before acknowledging my presence. After I had been waiting for about 15 minutes without even a ‘good evening’ or a ‘one moment, please, I’ll be right with you.’
She went on to say that a client had just canceled, so lucky me, I could fill his position. I told her I was looking for advice first since I was feeling low and unsure of what I wanted to be done to my hair. I made a few suggestions, which she dismissed. She recommended something she thought I’d enjoy and I told her that was alright with me. She said she didn’t have time because she had another customer coming in 20 minutes. (Please keep in mind that I have short hair that takes no more than 15 minutes to cut and style).
She went on to say that if I hadn’t spent so much time talking to her, she could have done my hair. So now I’m humiliated, not just sad and negative. I told her I didn’t mind waiting for her to complete with the other client and then having my hair done… but she refused, advising me to return on Friday or Saturday.
I tried to explain to her that I had interviews and appointments that night. She refused the same way. I asked for the phone number of a local Smart Style because I didn’t want to drive there for anything. She was also unable to supply me with that number.
Finally, in the same mall, I discovered a First Choice Hair Salon that provided EXCELLENT customer service and took me in shortly before closing time. Julie, the stylist, did an excellent job on my hair in approximately 12 minutes. So maybe it’s a good thing Walmart hair salon Smart Style messed up.
It’s not the first time I’ve had problems with Walmart hair salon Smart Style. I’m not going back there. Perhaps they should send their personnel to a nice salon for a refresher course.
